Senior Mechanical Engineer

 General Job Description

• Design the mechanical components of a mass spectrometer

• Design the packaging system of all of the instrument components and related hardware

• Provide innovative design to add to Company’s IP position

• Lead on design for manufacturability and assembly

• Manage project direction

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Design vacuum systems, electronic enclosures and mounting, instrument skeleton and skin

• Test system for resistance to shock, vibration, temperature, and electronic noise.

• Resolve MFG assembly issues in the early design stage of product design and equipment development.

• Interface directly with development and manufacturing teams

• Convert technical concepts to implementable designs

• Provide a competitive advantage to the company with analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Advanced project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.

Qualifications

• BSME/MSME (or equivalents) from an accredited institution

• 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, product development, and mechanical component design

• Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing

• Document design and testing.

• Development of plastic and metal components.

• Willingness to work in a team environment.

• Familiar with scheduling and coordinating the work of a mechanical development team.

• Proficient with at least one CAD program ideally Pro/E or Solid Works

• Excellent communication skills

• Entrepreneurial spirit

• Comfortable in start-up business atmosphere
